Business Analyst (remote)

Location: United Kingdom (remote) with quarterly offsite days at Novatiq’s Head Office in Cwmbran, Wales

About the job

Novatiq’s product team are looking for a Business Analyst who will oversee the software development lifecycle and ensure alignment between engineering outputs and product roadmap goals.

Key responsibilities

Requirements engineering

  • Translate product requirements into epics and user stories (in Jira)
  • Create a range of documentation to support communication of requirements between product and engineering teams (Confluence pages, business rules, business process models, wireframes etc.)
  • Present analysis outputs during product backlog refinement sessions

Backlog management

  • Groom and prioritise the product backlog to ensure development work is aligned with product roadmap goals

Sprint support

  • Run refinement sessions, sprint retrospectives, sprint ceremonies etc. to ensure continued alignment between engineering work and product requirements
  • Be on hand to clarify points raised by developers and QA during sprint development
  • Provide constructive feedback to developers during owner reviews

Product release process

  • Perform user acceptance testing to ensure developed work matches product requirements and is released on schedule
  • Ensure any defects identified during regression testing are documented and prioritised
  • Ensure any documentation for customers (user guides, release notes etc.) is up to date following each release

Continuous improvement opportunities

  • Work with project stakeholders to identify opportunities for continuous improvement

About you

  • Must have previous experience working as a Business Analyst in an agile framework – preferably Scrum
  • Previous experience working with Atlassian software (Jira, Confluence etc.) is strongly desirable
  • Familiar with all aspects of the software development lifecycle
  • Business analysis qualification from the British Computer Society (BCS) or a similar body is preferred but is not essential
  • Comfortable communicating with engineers and business stakeholders
  • Eager to learn and attentive to detail
  • Critical thinker with a creative mindset
  • Passionate about products and being a core part of a start-up’s growth journey
  • Able to understand technology/solutions at a high to medium level
